Writing is a superpower

I'll tell you why

One of the hardest parts of life is figuring out who you are and what you want to do. Whenever I start feeling lost in life, I find that the best way to sort things out is through writing.

Writing helps you think "outside the box" to work through issues where there are no immediate solutions.

Writing gives you the freedom to explore alternative narratives when things aren't going according to plan.

Writing forces you to process your thoughts and ideas into a unique perspective that can be shared with others.

Writing is a catalyst for change.

I believe that a lack of creative expression is a leading source of anxiety and depression. Unfortunately, most people feel they have lost the confidence and ability to express themselves creatively.

According to Adobe’s global study on creativity, 8 in 10 people feel that unlocking creativity is critical to economic growth. Yet, only 1 in 4 people believe they live up to their creative potential.

80%

25%
Feel they are maximizing their creative potential.
Welcome to my

I'm a “Visioneer” living in Tokyo. I write, design, and create content that motivates people to take action.
‍/vision-ear/ (noun)
  • A human explorer on a lifelong journey of self-discovery to create the best vision and version of themselves.
  • A Visioneer inspires others, and encourages them to join in on this mission so they can be the best version of themselves.

creativity builds confidence

Multiple studies show that confidence comes from experience, and practice is the best way to gain experience. I've found that deliberate creative practice is the best way to boost confidence. Deliberate creative practice can help you refine ideas, gain perspective, and improve your ability to persuade others.

Unfortunately, my creative potential went untapped for most of my career. I didn't understand the concept of creativity, nor did I know how to access it. Even if I could, I lacked the confidence to express my thoughts and ideas.

"What would people think if I told them the wild ideas that danced in my head?"

I pretended to be something I wasn't. I did work that wasn't the highest and best use of my unique abilities. I grew frustrated and felt intellectually isolated.

So, I began researching creativity. Then, I started writing down my thoughts and observations. At first, I kept them to myself. Eventually, I started sharing my wild ideas with people.

At first, people did kinda think I was crazy. The things I said and the scenarios I outlined must have seemed like the rantings of a madman.

But over time, something strange began to happen.

I developed a track record of accurately portraying how high-stakes scenarios might play out. Most importantly, people could look back at what I'd written.

Pretty soon, folks started asking, "How did I know how things would play out?" What motivated me to write these thoughts down and share them?

That boosted my confidence in sharing my sometimes wild ideas and perspectives with a broader audience.
